The primary objective of New Start is to increase the chances of people to succeed in life through providing the right guidance; mentoring and support whilst at the same time improving their skills by offering them proactive pathways to long term employment. Our diverse aims and objectives include:

  • To help people identify their potentials and guide them on how to maximize those potentials.
  • To provide help and assistance in setting positive life goals and the support needed for the achievement of those goals.
  • To encourage positive interaction within the community and assist in reducing feelings of isolation and insecurity. 
  • To act as mediator between young adults and their families—where there is conflict and whenever possible—bring about a peaceful resolution. 
  • To assist candidates in building confidence, develop and maintain positive relationships with others in the community. 
  • To increase candidates better social connections and social contact within their community and society. 
  • To enable candidates to build on their feelings of positive self-worth through proactive mentoring and coaching support. 
  • To promote and encourage candidates to participate in a range of activities; to help them identify their existing skills and abilities, and assist in building on those talents to increase chances of achievement and success in life. 
  • To identify opportunities for life skills improvement and help improve employment chances through encouraging candidates to participate in life skills training and job search related training. 
  • To encourage the capacity to cope with new experiences that will afford candidates chances for a new start in life. 
  • To enable candidates to reflect on the decisions they make in life and assist them in considering their influences and consequences; the impact such decisions are likely to have on them and on others (in society at large). 
  • To enable candidates change their negative lifestyles through encouraging them to engage with other support agencies - i.e. agencies that offer help for substance misuse/alcohol problems. To motivate candidates to be focused on achieving success in life by providing a holistic mentoring and coaching experience. 
  • To provide other necessary support identified as necessary to enable and empower candidates to have and sustain a new start in life. 
  • To improve and develop the service in-line with the needs of referral agencies’ candidates
